What is Reiki?
Reiki is an ancient, gentle, non-invasive form of energy healing that
promotes deep relaxation, fosters healing from injury or surgery,
and boosts the immune system. Although Reiki was introduced in the
early 1900s by Mikao Usui, of Japan, the laying on of hands for
healing purposes has been done for thousands of years -- and by
many indigenous peoples.
About Life Force Energy Fields
On one level, Reiki is about spirit and being willing to receive the
abundant life force energy that’s all around us. On another
level, Reiki is pure physics. All entities vibrate with electro-magnetic
energy at specific frequencies, including the Earth itself. These
energy fields surround every living thing. These life force energy
fields actually have been photographed through a technique called
Kirlian Photography. Reiki is simply a method of focusing one’s
intent to gather the power of that life force, or electro-magnetic,
energy and channel it into people, animals, plants, food, water – anything
that could benefit from an infusion of life force energy.
Experiencing Reiki
Reiki is done fully clothed on a massage table. The Reiki practitioner
simply lays hands on the client’s energy centers or a specific
injured area, and funnels “ki,” or life force energy,
into them. Many recipients of Reiki report feelings of deep peace,
and heat and “pulsing” coming from the practitioner’s
hands. Some also see colors floating in their mind’s eye as
they are receiving Reiki.
